Skilled Work Experience Pathway

The Skilled Work Experience Pathway is a New Zealand residence route under the Skilled Migrant Category that lets experienced professionals apply using practical work experience instead of a formal university degree.

Requirements

  • 5 years of work experience in a skilled trade occupation
  • 3 years of the work experience can be claimed from offshore work experience
  • 2 years of the work experience must be in New Zealand paid at 1.1x the median wage, currently $38.50 per hour
  • Employer must be accredited at time of resident visa application
  • Must meet English language requirement of PTE 58 or IELTS 6.5
  • Be of good health and character
  • Under the age of 56 at time of application
